Robert married Laurence, Mary Virginia. Mary (daughter of Laurence, William Ezekial and Grove, Mary Jane Elizabeth) was born on 27 May 1895 in Oscar, Indian Territory, Oklahoma; died on 03 Feb 1978 in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

1910 Census indicates William and his wife Jennie were living in Lincoln Township, Comanche, Oklahoma on April 30, 1910 at which time they had been married twenty-one years and had three children living with them, Mary who was 14, Grundy who was 11 and Clabe who was 7. It also shows they had Jennie's 12 year old niece, Anna Grove, was living with them. Is shows Jennie had given birth to seven children and only four of them were still living. The Census also incicates that William was a farmer and he was employed by someone else. It shows William and Jennie were both 40 years old.

Must confirm this information obtained from Alfred Hennessee:
1900 Census for Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation, Ara, Oklahoma 12 year old Charlie Hennessee is living with W. E. and Jennie and the Laurence's were listed as Tavnners.
"uncle Pid" did not draw the land south of Tinney until 1901 and the lottery information list his place of residence as Ara.
One of the children's nick name was Grubbs.

William married Grove, Mary Jane Elizabeth in 1888 in Nocona, Montague County, Texas. Mary (daughter of Grove, George W and Mary E) was born on 22 Feb 1870 in Texas County, Missouri; died on 17 Jun 1940 in Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma; was buried in Pecan Cemetery, Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma. Notes:

While doing research on this Laurence family from Warren County, Tennessee, this researcher found in The Warren County Story by Eugene Wiseman, researcher Mary Elizabeth Barnes, that James fought in the Civil War in Company E of the Warren County 16th Regiment. More research needs to be done on this and his original service record downloaded from the National Archives.

There is also a Newton Laurence mentioned in the book who married a Martin who lived at Harrison Ferry Mountain which was owned by Audley Harrison. Audley Harrison's grandson, Alph, married James Laurence's granddaughter two generations later and they moved to Lawrence Township, Oklahoma.

I will contact Mary Elizabeth Barnes and request that she send me her research on the Laurence and Grove families.

James P and Virginia Hennessee Laurence are buried at Pecan Cemetery, just to the North of thier son, William Ezekiel "Zeke" and his wife Jennie Grove Laurence. The tombstones are only marked "Laurence".
