Ruby was living in Freemont, California on June 21, 1968 when she wrote Laura Viola (Harrison) Rodgers, in a brithday card, to tell her that Larry Davis had written her from the war and seemed fine and she had only received one letter from her son Butch and wasn't expecting to hear from him again until he comes home. Ruby ends the card "I hope you get this card on time - had to ride my broom to the store to get and I'm pooped! Love Ruby, Paula & Baron". Laura Viola (Harrison) Rodgers Family Scrap Book

Ruby's tomb stone shows she died on 9/11/1970. Laura Viola (Harrison) Rodgers Family Record shows she died on 9/9/1970. The death date of 9/11/1970 was confirmed by the California Death Index 1940-1997.

Ruby's brother, William Alphous "Bill" Harrison said that Ruby died from a rare skin disease called Scleroderma. The Center for Disease Control states Scleroderma is chronic systemic autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis (or hardening) of vascular alterations and autoantibodies. It rapidly progresses and effects a large area of the skin and one or more internal organs, frequently the kidneys, esophagus, heart and lungs and is quite disabling. The cause is unknown, but it is known to run in families and there is no cure and only the symptoms can be treated.

    Other Events:

    • Also Known As: Liss
    • Census: Lawrence Township, Comanche County, Oklahoma
    • Census: Quanah Township, Comanche, Oklahoma
    • Occupation: Farmer
    • Birth: 19 Jul 1885, Springfield, Greene County, Missouri
    • Census: 04 Jun 1900, Morris Township, Texas County, Missouri
    • Census: 30 Apr 1910, Lincoln Township, Comanche County, Oklahoma
    • Residence: 12 Sep 1915, Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma
    • Residence: Feb 1927, Hinton, Caddo County, Oklahoma

    Notes:

1910 Census Record indicates U. A. "Liss" and Callie were living in Lincoln Township, Comanche, Oklahoma and had two children living with them, Walter "Buster" who was 4 and Albert "Buck" who was just 16 months. Callie stated that she had given birth to two children and both of them were living. The Census also shows that Liss was a blacksmith and operated his own shop.

1920 Census Record indicates Ulysses "Liss" and Callie were living in Lawrence Township, Comanche, Oklahoma and had 6 children living with them, Walter "Buster" 12, Albert "Buck" 10, Archie 8, Ethel 6, Ruby 4 and Alma who was just 3. The Census shows they rented their home and Liss was a farmer. Archie was mistakenly listed as a daughter on this Census. Maybe they had so many kids running around they confused the Census taker.

1930 Census Record indicates Ulysses "Liss" and Callie were living in (Hinton) Quanah Township, Comanche, Oklahoma and had all 11 children living with them. Ulysses was 45 years old, Callie 40, Walter "Buster" 24, Albert "Buck" 21, Archie 19, Ethel 16, Ruby 13, Alma 12, Ray 10, Joe "Pod" 8, Charlie Leon 5, Laura Viola 3 and William "Bill" was just 4 months old. The Census much more information: They were renting their home and lived on a farm. Liss and Buck were farmers and Buster was a truck driver. Archie, Ethel, Ruby, Alma, Ray and Pod were in school in 1929. Buck and Buster were married but there is no mention of their wives living in the home. Unlike the 1920 Census...Archie was listed as a son and not a daughter.

DAR file number 840385 and death certificate show Callie's birth place as Addington, Oklahoma, however I had in my records Indian Territory, Addington, Oklahoma. Addington was not incorporated as a town until 1901, 11 years after her birth. I need to order a copy of her birth certificate to confirm this.

I also need to see if I can confirm the difference between the place of their marriage from my record of Mud Flat, Indian Territory, Oklahoma and the DAR record of Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory.
