Settlement of the Estate of Richmond McGregor Settlement of the Estate of Richmond McGregor is important to our family research because it list the heirs Audley Harrison as well as Richmond and Mary Mears GcGregor. The legal document lists: William McGregor, Alfred McGregor, Philip McGregor, Sarah McGregor, William Stiles and wife Mahala Stiles, formerly Mahala McGregor, Thomas Hennessee and wife Nelly, formerly Nelly Hays, Calhoun Hays, Mary Hays, Elvira Hays, Jerome Hays, and Luther Hays, the last five named persons, minors under the age limit of twenty one years, and who are children of Elvira Hays now dead, the wife of William Hays and the daughter of said Richmond McGregor, John Grove and wife Sophronia, formerly Sophronia Harrison, Daniel Wiseman and wife Nellie, formerly Nellie Harrison, Harrison Smith and wife Virginia, formerly Virginia Harrison, Archibald Hennessee and wife Nancy, formerly Nancy Harrison, Frank Smith and wife Millie, formerly Millie Harrison, William Jennings and wife Julia, formerly Julia Harrison, Patrick Hennessee and wife Hannah, formerly Hannah Harrison, Alexander Harrison, Audley Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Mary Wiseman, Nellie Wiseman, George Wiseman and Henderson Wiseman, Narred McGregor and wife Nettie, formerly Nettie Harrison, Joseph Harrison, Audley Wiseman and Elizabeth Wiseman, all of who are heirs at law and distributees of Audley Harrison. Research is currently being done my Mary Elizabeth Barnes in Warren County, Tennessee to verify if the last of the first paragraph is actually Richmond McGregor or Audley Harrison. Also, it does not make sense legally that Audley sold 76 acres to Rodgers and Mitchell, Rodgers and Mitchell sold it to Richmond McGregor and the court would say Audley's heirs would be responsible for Richmond's debt AND Richmond's heirs have the 76 acres. Hopefully we can locate the original document for this case because it seems something was wrong with transcribing in the past. |
Headstones | Audley M Harrison Sr Tombstone Audley M Harrison Sr Tombstone. This Tombstone is a replacement tombstone provided by Audley M Harrison Jr's descendants in the late 1900's. You can see the base of the original tombstone in the photo. The original tombstone did not have the information about his second marriage to Elizabeth or mention of his son Audley. It is confusing why they would put Audley Jr's name on the tombstone and not mention his other 14 children. I will try to get a photograph of the entire original tombstone. Census Records | 1840 Census, Warren County, Tennessee, page 354, sheet number 4. 1840 Census, Warren County, Tennessee page 354, sheet number 4. Audley Harrison, William Grove, Cunningham families and more. Line 1 shows Audley Harrison's family with 1 male 50 - 60 (Audley was 50), 1 female 30 - 40 (Elizabeth Grove was 36), 1 male under 5 (Alexander was 2), 1 female 15 - 20 (Virginia was 15) 2 females 10 - 15 (Nancy was 13, Millie was 10) 1 female 5 - 10 (Hannah L. was 8) and 1 female under 5 (Julia was 1). The Slave Schedule shows they had 2 males who were 10 - 24, 1 female 36 - 55, 1 female under the age of 10 and the family was engaged in Agriculture. Line 9 shows William Grove, but I have been unable to connect him to the family. He would be just a little older than Elizabeth Grove, Audley's wife. I researched other family trees and found the same name for a William Grove's father as people have stated Elizabeth's was John and John was showing to be from Botetourt County, Virginia. There was no mention of a William Grove in the Wiseman Book. Thomas S Harrison Sr married in Botetourt and Audley Harrison Sr married his first wife in Botetourt before he married Elizabeth Grove, but I was still unable to connect the William Grove on this Census. Line 19 Aaron Higgenbotham's family. I did not do much research on this, however more needs to be done. Aaron's wife's maiden name was Christian and there are Christian families on this Census page as well as the same pages as the Harrison and Hennessee families in the 1830 and 1830 Census. Aaron had one daughter that married Archibald M Hennessee (see the Wiseman book page 486) and another daughter who married a McGreggor. The family also married into the Farrar family. The Higgenbotham's are also from Virginia and have been with the Harrison family since the late 1700s. Last line William J McGreggor (McGregor) I have not added this whole family into the website but it is important that I do at some point. The McGregors are very important to our family as they married several Hennessees, Harrison, Hayes, Wiseman and many other of our relations. | |
