Notes:

1870 Census Record indicates Ezekiel and Victoria were living in Warren County, Tennessee and he was a farm labor and she kept house. It also states Ezekiel was 21, Victoria was 17 and they did not have any children yet.

1880 Census Record indicates Ezekiel and Victoria were living in Kaufman County, Texas with their two youngest children Sallie who was 7 and Thomas who was just 1. It also states Ezekiel worked on a farm and Victoria kept house. The Census shows a 16 year old black male, Kendrick Rofe, living with them who was a domestic servant.

1900 Census Record indicates Ezekiel and Victoria were living in Nocona, Montague County, Texas and they had five of their children living with them Thomas who was 21, Virginia who was 17, Callie who was 10, Nora who was 7 and Samuel who was 3. They also had a nephew, George Hennessee, who was 14 and born in May of 1886 living with them in addition to a 29 year old male servant Joe Lawrence. The Census states Ezekiel was a farmer. Sallie died of Yellow Fever sometime before 1890. Callie, who was born in 1890, did not recall having a younger sister sallie.

1910 Census Record indicates Ezekiel and Victoria were living in Lincoln Township, Comanche, Oklahoma and had two children living with them, Jennie who was 27 and single and Sam who was 15 and single. Victoria stated that she had given birth to five children and all five of them were living. The Census also shows that Ezekiel was a farmer and owned his own farm.

"The Hennessee Family in America" by D. A. Hennessee states:
Ezekiel was a blacksmith and a woodworker.

"Prairie Lore" by The Southwestern Oklahoma Historical Society, vol 10 number 2, book 38, Oct 1973 an article written by S. N. Hennessee states Ezekiel "Jake" and Victoria moved to Vanzant County, Texas. Their two young children (Sallie and George) died there of Yellow Fever.

There is no record of George being a son of Ezekiel and Victoria, however the 1900 Census Record indicates a nephew, George Hennessee. There is also no record I have been able to locate of Ezikiel and Victoria living in Vanzant County, Texas.

Ezekiel married Rodgers, Victoria about 1870 in Warren County, Tennessee. Victoria (daughter of Unknown, and Unknown,) was born on 19 Dec 1853 in Warren County, Tennessee; died on 14 Jan 1913 in Tinney Township, Comanche County, Oklahoma; was buried in Old Lot 35 B Pecan Cemetery, Lawton, Comanche County, Oklahoma. Known to me as "Uncle Pid". He was the 1/2 brother of my grandfather: William Patrick Hennessee. William was the son of Archibald H. & his 2nd wife, Mary (Hayes) Hennessee. William remained close to all his 1/2 bros. & sisters in TN and after their move to TX and then to OK.


1910 Census Record indicates Joe and his wife Josie were living in Lincoln Township, Comanche, Oklahoma and had two children living with them, Bill who was 18 and single and Thene who was a 12 year old single female. Josie stated that she had given birth to seven children and six of them were living. The Census also shows that Joe was a farmer and owned his own farm.

Must confirm this information obtained from Alfred Hennessee:
1900 Census for Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation, Ara, Oklahoma
"uncle Pid" did not draw the land south of Tinney until 1901 and the lottery information list his place of residence as Ara. Detailed information on the lottery is available somewhere.
Alexander must have died in Indian Territory.
Charlie's mother may be on the 1930 census for Decatur Co, Iowa. Possibly her and Alexander are on a Texas Census together. Census show Charlie's birth place and other children as Texas.
Alfred said he was about 5 or 6 when Alexander died (about 1899 or 1900). He was buried in a little town called Powder Puff in the Oklahoma side of Nokona, Texas.
Alexander liked to get into fights. Friend of Alfred tried to find Powder Puff and could not locate.

Stories written by Mary Elizabeth Barnes for the Wiseman Family and Allied lines book. I found these stories very interesting since I am one of the cousins from Lawton, Oklahoma and have other family who obtained land in the Oklahoma Land Rush. My notes are added in italics. -Sandra Harrison

?When land opened up in Oklahoma, they (Robert and Elizabeth) decided to join Lizzie's family already living there. Her brother William M. Hayes was a judge in Ryan, Oklahoma and several of her cousins lived in Lawton. About 1905, Rob, Lizzie and baby Rachel left for Memphis on their way west, where they encountered the Cholera quarantine. After a week in Memphis they took the train west, only to be set upon by outlaws. They arrived in Oklahoma penniless. Nevertheless they were able to acquire land and build a cabin. Later Lizzie said that they had to keep an eye out for the Indians, not for fear of harm, but because they stole the family?s chickens. In 1906 in Mangum, Oklahoma, another daughter Ethel was born. Rob heard a noise outside and saw a tornado approaching. They had a storm cellar in a nearby bank, so Rob grabbed Lizzie, baby Ethel and the mattress and headed for the storm cellar. Lizzie later said that as she lay there listening to the storm roar by, she looked up in the rafters and there, coiled up was a bull snake looking back at her. She said she and the snake eyed each other till the storm blew past. Rob, after carrying his family back to the cabin, got his shotgun and killed the snake. This apparently helped convince him that this was not a good place to raise a family, so by 1907 when their third daughter Edna was born they were living in Ryan, Oklahoma near Lizzie?s brother William. By 1908 they were back at Dark Hollow in Warren County, Tennessee. In 1910 they were in Burt, Cannon County, Tennessee.?

1910 Census indicates William and his wife Jennie were living in Lincoln Township, Comanche, Oklahoma on April 30, 1910 at which time they had been married twenty-one years and had three children living with them, Mary who was 14, Grundy who was 11 and Clabe who was 7. It also shows they had Jennie's 12 year old niece, Anna Grove, was living with them. Is shows Jennie had given birth to seven children and only four of them were still living. The Census also incicates that William was a farmer and he was employed by someone else. It shows William and Jennie were both 40 years old.

1900 Census for Indian Territory, Chickasaw Nation, Ara, Oklahoma 12 year old Charlie Hennessee is living with W. E. and Jennie and the Laurence's were listed as Tavnners.

1880 Census indicates Sally living with Ezekies and Victoria. Sally is not noted on the 1900 Census. Callie, her sister, spoke of her brothers and sisters often prior to her passing. No one recalls Sallie. She must have passed away as a child since the 1900 Census states Victoria had 14 children and only 5 were living.

1920 Census indicates Kay (Uncle Kay) was living in Lawrence Township, Comanche, Oklahoma with his wife Maggie and thier two children Ruth 16 and Charley 15. The Census also shows Kay rented his home, was a farmer and he could read and write.

DAR file number 840385 and death certificate show Callie's birth place as Addington, Oklahoma, however I had in my records Indian Territory, Addington, Oklahoma. Addington was not incorporated as a town until 1901, 11 years after her birth. I need to order a copy of her birth certificate to confirm this.

Ruby was living in Freemont, California on June 21, 1968 when she wrote Laura Viola (Harrison) Rodgers, in a brithday card, to tell her that Larry Davis had written her from the war and seemed fine and she had only received one letter from her son Butch and wasn't expecting to hear from him again until he comes home. Ruby's brother, William Alphous "Bill" Harrison said that Ruby died from a rare skin disease called Scleroderma. The Center for Disease Control states Scleroderma is chronic systemic autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis (or hardening) of vascular alterations and autoantibodies. It rapidly progresses and effects a large area of the skin and one or more internal organs, frequently the kidneys, esophagus, heart and lungs and is quite disabling. The cause is unknown, but it is known to run in families and there is no cure and only the symptoms can be treated.

While I was doing research for this book, I visited house by house asking questions and looking through photo albums. When I got to the photo albums belonging to Viola, I learned that she kept family record books and scrap books of every card or letter she had ever gotten. She even kept the little cards that came with flowers, boxed valentines cards she had gotten from children, newspaper articles about family, funeral cards and wedding invitations. What a wonderful things she kept. It was easy to see, how much she cared about her family, nieces, nephews and cousins.
